READING IS FUNDMENTAL

Reading Is Fundamental (RIF) is our national philanthropy. Kappa's vision is to have a literate America with all children having access to books while discovering the joys and value of reading. Jill and Janet, our Philanthropy Chairmen, have organized this years event which took place February 20, 2013 at "The Children's Place", a daycare for young children that have been abused and neglected. The book we have chosen this year is "If You Give A Moose A Muffin" by Laura Joffe Numeroff. It was read to five different classes along with fun and interesting activities. Our goal was for each child to be able to take home a new book to share with their family.

"If You Give a Moose a Muffin"

KC Kappas had a ball at the recent Reading is Fundamental Event at The Children’s Place! The chosen book for RIF was “If You Give a Moose a Muffin,” written by Laura Numeroff and illustrated by Felicia Bond. Kappas donated enough money to purchase 55 books for the children of The Children’s Place. Kappas read to five classes, and each class made its own muffins, which the children loved to eat after baking was finished. Each child had a moose picture to color and had cupcake stickers to add and decorate. A good time was had by all!
